Star Wars Pillowcases

Once a upon a time.....there was an ordinary pillow case...he enjoyed his life and loved being a very good friend to a Master Jedi but he just felt that he life wasn't quite complete yet...
until one day when his head was cut off.....but not to fret as something better was coming along the way...
What is going to happen now you may wonder??? What will become of the head-less pillowcase??? Just you wait and see......
Ta-Da Star Wars who would have ever guessed right???? So his new and much more glorious head was attached to his life-less body...now becoming a proper place for his Jedi Master to lay his head on....
My two little handsomes are OBESSED and I mean completely taken over by Star Wars...it doesn't help that their mom encourages their love...passion for it either...
I had made some Thomas pillowcases for my little man when Xander (my 8 year old) asked why he never had any Star Wars pillowcases made for him....My reply thinking I am totally off the hook was when they make some Star Wars fabric I will make you a pillowcase.

Haha little did I know that the very NEXT week while I was at JoAnn's I would find Star Wars fabric and cut fabric too....Oh bugger...So i bought some fabric to make Xander some.....
When Ryker (my 4 year old) replied "why don't I get any?"  Man I am a SUCKER....what started out at one.....then became three...we had to add a little Clone Wars to make it Just right or so I was told by the 4 year old.....
apparently Star Wars isn't Star Wars if you don't have the original and the clone wars....
I love letting my little/big boys imaginations go wild and now with their new pillowcases I am pretty positive that their slumber will be all the more fascinating than before as that is the last thing they get to see before they head off to sleepy slumber.

the barstools aka the devil

So after 5 years of lots of love.....mainly from the boys.... our once beautiful barstools now look like this...i know i know so hot right.....
So after a lenghty discussion with my babe we...I mean I came to the conclusion that they needed a whole new look.  I found some fabric that I feel in love with because it gives our monochromatic house the pop of color that we are so desperately seeking....
From the front it doesn't look so bad....and not all the chairs are in total need of repair but if you are going to do one you must do them all....wow i never realized the journey that i was about to take...
Normally here i would show you how i take it apart and then put all back together but this project was mayhem..to say the least!!! So after tearing one stool down and then reconfiguring how I could put it back together but make them washable since 1. the fabric is way light...2. i have a 4 year old that is messier than a pig...3. if i was going to spend so much time doing this i wanted it done right...
wow let's just say it took about 1 month to complete yeah crazy right???? I totally know... but now i had to figure in velcro and button holes that so if and when i need to wash them they won't fray...Super fun right???? Oh brother it was crazy. The first chair took the most amount of time as it was my "dummy" and then others went a lot faster....not fast but faster.....

Here is a side by side compairison...lots different and yes i finally added the piece that broke off the front....some times it take a whole revamp to put such simple things back in place
Here is the finished product...I love how much it lightens the kitchen....this project was tough a lot tougher than i imagined it would be but a great challenge and now that it is FINALLY done i can say that I am finally enjoying them in their full glory....now just to keep my 4 year old off of them...teeheee

So love is in the air

It's that time of year for lots of love...I am in love with love and in love with Valentines day because it is one day out of the whole entire year that you can focus on giving extra love and loving your loved one lots!!!!

While at my sisters house for Christmas she showed me these amazing towels that she made...and I dediced that I would make some for Valentines Day.

So what you need is some flour sack towels...in my case I bought a package of 4 from Target for $4.00. Then I took different pieces of fabric...between 1/8 yd and 1/4 yd and sewed them on...some I did just a straigth pieces of fabric and others i gathered to make ruffles from.  Then I added differnt pieces of ribbon...some straight..some rick rack and pompoms.  There really isn't a speicific way to do this other than to have lots of fun!

With the left over fabric I decided to make a table runner....being the only girl in this house i love that I can decorate with lots of reds and pinks...another reason why it's my favorite time of year!!!

I'm back

So where have i been you may be wondering...well somehow I let myself fall into a BIG black hole and let my insecurities get the best of me...While looking at a lot of my favorite blogs I began to quickly let myself believe that I wasn't good enough...that I am not as awesome as so and so and can't put things together like this person....I really let it drag me down and just lost all motivation.   Before I would even attempt to decorate I would look at two of my favorite blogs to see how they would do it.  I soon began to realized that they were two very diffent styles and trying to make them go together was NOT happening at all...then I became even more frustrated and lost ALL hope ALL together.I was talking with a good friend on Saturday who told me that she has been stocking my blog and there's nothing new on there...it was what I needed to get back...I realize that I may not be as cool as all of these other girls that I so admire but you know what I am me...I do things my way and that is how it should be.....What changed I realized that I am not decorating the way I want and it's for me after all right??? It's supposed to be my house with my personality laced into it. It's time to take charge and do what I want to do...because that is me and that is what makes me happiest of all... I love revamping and creating new things and so here I am...........I AM BACK!!!!
